HomeMy WebLinkAbout23.06.15 - Minutes, Hag Regional AirportHAGERSTOWN REGIONAL AIRPORT ADVISORY COMMISSION Minutes of the Open Meeting June 15, 2023 The Hagerstown Regional Airport Advisory Commission held a public meeting on Thursday June 15, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at the Hagerstown Regional Airport Terminal Conference Room, 18434 Showalter Road, Hagerstown, Maryland. Commission members at the meeting were: Rob Ferree Chair, Gary Bockrath Vice Chair, George Stone, Curtis Berry, Laurence Gross, Austin Colby. Ex-Officio County Commissioner Randall Wagner. Airport staff members present were Andrew Eshleman Director of Public Works, Neil Doran Airp01i Director, and Amy Blair Office Associate. CALL TO ORDER Rob Ferree called the meeting to order on June 15, 2023, at 3:03 p.m. CITIZENS PARTICIPATION John Douglas Stine and Randal Leatherman were in attendance to observe the meeting. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion made by Mr. Bockrath seconded by Mr. Gross to approve the minutes of the May 11, 2023, meeting. The motion passed unanimously. STRATEGIC PLAN UPDATE Mr. Doran reported the following: R.A. Wiedemann & Associates, Inc. (RAW A) is concluding and hoping to have the Strategic Plan finalized on or before July 1st_ The Airpmi Advisory Commission (AAC) members will review and discuss at the July 13th AAC meeting for approval. AIRPORT DIRECTOR'S REPORT Mr. Doran reported the following: Mr. Doran and Mr. Eshleman are working with Public Relations to rebrand the Hagerstown Regional Airpo1i (HGR) logo and color scheme. Hagerstown Herald-Mail Media published an article about HGR being within the Top 10 lowest airfare Airports in 2022. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization draft bill is being considered by Congress. This should have positive impacts of pilot training and Essential Airline Service in the future. A land appraisal is in the works for the expanded Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics (PIA) lease. The appraisal should return a higher field market value rate for the land. HGR is a temporary testing site for drone detection. Track and Identify System equipment is to be installed at the Airport Terminal. Mr. Doran received a detailed quote for the parking revenue collection systems from a company called Parking Boxx. HGR recently hired a Part-Time Snack Bar Cashier and another Paii-Time Grounds Maintenance employee. Two more positions need to be filled and the Airline will be fully staffed. WDVM-TV reporter to visit HGR on Friday, June 16th to do a story. AIRLINE REPORT No report to update. OPERATIONS REPORT No repmi to update. COUNTY COMMISIONERS UPDATE Ex-Officio County Commissioner Mr. Wagner wanted to acknowledge and welcome Mr. Stine and Mr. Leatherman for observing the AAC meeting. Senior Staff positions are needing to be filled throughout Washington County. Current openings include Director of Human Resources, Deputy Director of Human Resources, Permit Coordinator, and a County Administrator. These position openings are listed on the Washington County website. BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT REPORT No report to update. MEMBERS COMMENTS Mr. Ferree presented Mr. Bockrath with a Ce1iificate of Recognition for his last day as a commission member. Mr. Ferree thanked Mr. Bockrath for his contribution to the Airport Advisory Commission Board over the last 6 years. There is now an open member position for the Airport Advisory Commission. Anyone interested can submit an application under Boards & Commissions on the Washington County website. Mr. Wagner reported an Aviation Program is in the works that will be offered to students at Williamsport High School in Washington County this upcoming school year. CLOSED SESSION No topics to discuss in Closed Session. ADJOURNMENT Mr. Bockrath made a motion, seconded by Mr. Colby to adjourn the meeting at 3:49 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.
