HomeMy WebLinkAbout21.05.21 - Minutes, Womens CommissionWashington County Commission for Women Meeting Minutes 3/17/21 Opening The monthly meeting of The Washington County Commission for Women was called to order on Zoom at 6:00 pm on 5/12/21 Present Amy Miller - Secretary Melissa Wilder - Secretary Barbara Martin Michelle Sines-Treasurer Shadae Paul-Vice President/acting President Jillian Potter Jessica Scott Absent Shelita Jackson Tiina Fraley-president Approval of Agenda Agenda was unanimously approved as distributed. Approval of Minutes Previous meeting’s minutes were approved Business from previous meeting Updates Monthly theme for May is Mental/Emotional Well Being-community engagement with Brook Lane. Shadae shared info on local/national organizations and social media stats. Chatsoni Brooks officially left the commission. New Agenda Items Shadae will get official commission membership list from county and Michelle will scan and share the commission handbook/guidelines. Amendments may be made if desired. Michelle Sines gave treasury report-our money doesn’t match what the county has on record. She will investigate the discrepancy. Possibly bill from group dinner at Los Amigos. Will GoDaddy continue to be billed? Discussion on website maintenance fee. 1 fee per year goes to GoDaddy for Domain. 16.99 per month for wordpress to host website per year Shadae suggests bringing a larger budget proposal to the county. Need to find ways to prove to county that what we do is beneficial enough to deserve a higher budget. Both subcommittees should create “business plans” to present to the county. Jillian suggest “Birth and Babies Fair” to draw revenue-save for future discussion Thoughts on attracting new commissioners-please offer the opportunity to others. Seeking a new treasurer for the commission. Jillian Potter will fill this role. Kristin Holt at Kaptivated Kulture willing to partner with WCCW to work on branding/social media development pro bono. She will meet with her soon. JUNE THEME-financial wellbeing. Shadae will reach out to Laura Wallce-permission to rerun keynote speech/additional resources, Jessica S. reach out to Diana Stone-financial literacy, Amy reach out to Kelsi- financial planning, Melissa Wilder reach out to Courtney Beaver-budgeting/financial planning exercises, Shadae reach out to Shelita-TBA They will email videos and resources to their contact and Shadae and will post it. WCCW social meet up at Imagine Hagerstown May 28 at 5pm. Table set up at gate. We can wear tshirts. Amy will bring table, Barb will give WCCW shirts and table cloth to Michelle. Each participate will bring a pallet of water bottles to hand out. Will meet at University Plaza at 4:45 pm. Melissa proposed “open house” meet and greet at a winery. Agreed. Melissa will create a proposal for next meeting. Plans to create a 3 year 2023-2026 strategic plan for the commission. Voted yes to create a plan-will add to next month’s agenda to begin planning Offered attendance at the Annual Roundtable meeting for Commission for Women in Maryland on June 10, 2020 at 6 pm. Shadae, Tina, Barbara and possibly Melissa will attend. Will answer discussion questions in a separate call or survey style email. Agenda for Next Meeting Will be emailed to all commissioners Adjournment Meeting was adjourned at 7:41pm by Shadae Paul. The next meeting will be on 6/9/21 at 6:00 pm on zoom.
