HomeMy WebLinkAbout210520 - Minutes, Community Health AdvWashington County Community Health Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes May 20, 2021 Opening This meeting of the Washington County Community Health Advisory Committee was called to order at 7:30am by Douglas Spotts, MD, Chair, via virtual meeting. Present Earl Stoner, Jennifer Foltz, Rich Eichelberger, Rob Ferree, Cyndi Powell, Douglas Spotts, MD, Heidi Kendall, Commissioner Randall Wagner, Allen Twigg, Peggy Pugh and David Chisholm. Old Business • Approval of Meeting Minutes from April 15, 2021. Allen Twigg made the motion to approve as presented, Peggy Pugh seconded. All voting in favor, minutes approved. • COVID-19 Update provided by Earl Stoner: o Positivity rate, case rate and numbers in general are down, which is good. o Vaccination efforts, now focusing on hard to reach populations and overcoming vaccines hes itancy/resistant. Trials underway on youth as young as 6 months. New Business Member Updates Peggy Discussed working with Earl to make sure school system is following recommendations and putting the best plans in place for end of school year, especially related to graduation ceremonies. Working on care gaps and refocusing on general vaccination rates for incoming 7th graders. Discussed summer plans for students, summer camps, summer learning, etc. Doug Discuss Go for Bold campaign and strategies for increasing engagement and continued implementation, return of focus to preventative care and procedures at the hospital, Allen 10,000 steps challenge, HEAL of Washington County, May 315' — July Opioid crisis and gaps in care in our County, i.e. not enough crisis beds and long term care options i.e. detox — exploring ways to address these gaps. Diabetes plan Commissioner Wagner/Earl Stoner Environmental concerns RE water and sewer is still a relevant concern/topic that Commissioner Wagner fields calls about frequently. Plan for a presentation from Health Dept. on this topic in the next few months. Outlook • Future potential topics: o Meritus Family Resident Group Activities and Objectives - November o Health Department perspective on water/sewer quality - September o Dental/oral health as it relates to systemic health. o Diabetes Plan (National, State, Local) - October Meeting Adjourned at 8:20am.
