HomeMy WebLinkAbout21.08.12 - Minutes, Hag Regional AirportHAGERSTOWN REGIONAL AIRPORT ADVISORY COMMISSION Minutes of the Open Meeting August 12, 2021 The Hagerstown Regional Airport Advisory Commission held a public meeting on Thursday August 12, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. at the Hagerstown Regional Airport Terminal Conference Room, 18434 Showalter Road, Hagerstown, Maryland. Commission members at the meeting were: Norm Morin, Jr. Chair, Gary Bockrath Vice Chair, Rob Ferree, Sam Cool, John Barr, Susan Small, Jack Miller and Ex -Officio County Commissioner Randall Wagner. Airport staff members present were Rick Johnson Airport Director, Gene Bolanowski Operations Manager, Peggy Siler Airline Station Leader, and Kendra Mumma Office Associate. CALL TO ORDER Chairman Norm Morin called the meeting to order on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 3:02 p.m. Closed Session No topics to discuss in Closed Session. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion made by Mr. Cool, seconded by Mr. Ferree to approve the minutes of the June 10, 2021 meeting. The motion passed unanimously. UNFINISHED BUSINESS 1. Mr. Johnson reported the following: Land Acquisition Update • 14318 Pennsylvania Ave -Received appraisal on 8/11/21 still need to look over. • H21 Stairs -(Royal) Met with Contractor and start date to be soon and should be a 3 month project hoping to be finished by Christmas. ® Flail Mower is to be delivered within the next week. MAA Grant • $60,000 (75% MAA, 25% Local Match) for FY2022 • Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (Public Law 116- 260) (CRRSAA) • HGR allocated $1,009,888 for costs related to operations, personnel, cleaning, sanitization, janitorial services, combating the spread of pathogens at the airport and debt service payments. • American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) HGR allocated $1,168,383 for relief to the airport affected by COVID-19. Hagerstown Regional Airport Advisory Commission Meeting Minutes of August 12, 2021 Page 2 of 3 NEW BUSINESS • We do have a few positions to fill within airport: 3 Customer Service Positions and 2 Maintenance/Fire Fighter Positions. We have been running short staffed for quite sometime here at the airport. AIRPORT DIRECTOR'S UPDATE • TSA mask mandate still in effect until September. Looking to keep that with how COVID is spreading. AIRLINE REPORT • Ms. Siler reported an update on our inbound and outbound numbers. We have had 14,428 total outbound passengers and 13,486 inbound passengers. We have had 12,605 bags come through the airport. • Ms. Siler reported update on the Snack Bar in the hold room. As of to date we have made $7,064 so after buying the food and supplies we have a revenue of about $4,000 margin. The feedback from passengers have been overwhelming with how happy they are. • PIE is extended in November until May I5th. Looking for it to be year-round. OPERATIONS REPORT Mr. Bolanowski reported: • MAA inspection completed on Thursday August 12th with a passing status • MAA grant for terminal security upgrades including the access panel, has been signed and should be started next month. • County is planning for a September 1 lth remembrance at the airport on September 7, 2021 to commemorate the 20th anniversary. Final details are being completed. • Wings and Wheels expo is being planned for September 11, 2021 at the Aviation Museum. • Snow and Ice Control Committee is being scheduled for October. Exact date is to be determined. COUNTY COMMISIONERS UPDATE • Still looking to move 80 W Baltimore building downtown for the new stadium. New stadium is moving forward; team to start in 2023, if new stadium isn't ready will be using Municipal Stadium. 0 Using COVID grant to purchase new emergency radio system. Received another 13 million in grants to use accordingly throughout. MEMBERS COMMENTS The Members discussed again regarding Amazon doing business in Washington County. The suggestion was made for the County to connect with Amazon to encourage the use of the Airport by using Air Freight.
