Meeting Minutes
November 4, 2019
Opening
The regular meeting of the Washington County Diversity and Inclusion Committee was called to order at
5:45pm by Chairperson Mr. Arthur Hicks on November 4, 2019 at the Family Diner on Dual Highway due
to the location at 100 West Washington Street having been closed.
Present
Arthur Hicks, Zsun-nee Matema-Miller, Carlos Reyes, Maria Wentzel, Carlos Mellott.
Members of the Public in attendance: Mr. Wentzel.
Old Business:
The meeting was called to order at approximately 5:35pm at 100 W. Washington Street in Hagerstown.
Chairperson Hicks discussed the need to continue to form subcommittees. Mr. Mellott and Ms. Matema
Miller gave an update of the Listening Tours. The Hancock meeting went very well with an attendance
of 15 people. The next two scheduled meetings on the listening tour are Sharpsburg and Boonsboro.
Chairperson Hicks discussed the pending Subcommittee work session, which should occur in March.
Carlos will follow up with Mrs. Williams regarding the information/data request, and with Ms. Keller
about the Community contact list.
New Business:
The Committee discussed possibly having the next meeting at the Hancock Library on December 91h.
Action Items:
Outreach to Community Groups- Ms. Keller has a list of community organizations.
Finalize dates/times for next General Meeting to occur on December 9th in Hancock.
Member Reports and Comments, Roundtable discussion
PUBLIC COMMENT:
There was no public comment.
The meeting was adjourned by Chairperson Arthur Hicks at approximately 6:40 pm with the motion
being seconded by Mr. Reyes. The next general meeting will tentatively occur on _December 9,_at 5:30
at Hancock Library.
