Meeting Minutes
May 13, 2019
Opening
The regular meeting of the Washington County Diversity and Inclusion Committee was called to order at
5:30 pm by Chairperson Mr. Arthur Hicks on May 13, 2019 at 100 West Washington Street.
Present
Arthur Hicks, Zsun-nee Matema-Miller, Carlos Reyes, Maria Wentzel, Carlos Mellott, Emily Keller,
Members of the Public in attendance: Mr Tereance Moore.
New Business:
The meeting was called to order at approximately 5:35pm at 100 W. Washington Street in Hagerstown.
Chairperson Hicks discussed the background of the Committee, and the group discussed Article 3F, a
recap around the Festival, research parade, publication, flags and a concert. We discussed the need to
use existing structures and events to share our message and to not reinvent the wheel. The Mummers
Parade was suggested to be visible to the community. The group discussed that our time must be
efficient and effective. The cost for all flags of the United Nations are $785. Dates and permits are not
necessary.
Chairperson Hicks mentioned that we could hold one event in the fall and one in the spring.
The group discussed subcommittees and preparation of presentation of a SWOT analysis about their
Committee and other ideas on the table in order to be more efficient with our planning.
PUBLIC COMMENT:
Mr. Moore suggested getting a website, fb page or liaison; a point of contact for the group. (The point of
contact is Mrs. Krista Hart).
The meeting was adjourned by Chairperson Arthur Hicks at approximately 6:45 pm.
