HomeMy WebLinkAbout200916 - Minutes, Ag Ed Center Board WASHINGTON COUNTY AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION CENTER BOARD OF DIRECTORS MONTHLY MEETING September 16, 2020- MEETING MINUTES The Board of Directors held their monthly meeting virtually through the Zoom platform on Wednesday, September 16, 2020. Vice President Dennis Reeder called the meeting to order at 4:00p.m. ATTENDANCE: Katie Carr, Joe Layos, Jay Miller, Dave Moore, Darren Olden, Dennis Reeder, Mike Starliper Excused: Jeff Semler Staff in attendance: Jeff Cline- County Commissioner, Jamie Dick- Parks and Recreation Director, Danny Hixon- Facilities Supervisor, Dave Brooks- Parks Supervisor, Erin Overdorff- Facility Administrator, Andrew Eshleman- Director of Public Works APPROVAL OF MINUTES Minutes were approved with a motion. COMMISSIONERS COMMENTS A certificate of recognition was requested for Sue Harr for her time served on the Board to be prepared and sent to her at her new address. The Board will recognize Sue for her dedication and commitment to the facility during her time on the Board. FACILITIES ADMINISTRATOR REPORT The facility is a POD site for the WC Health Dept for COVID vaccinations when they become available. Staff has met with the Health Department regarding the plan of use for the facility. As of now, the facility is available for rent for outdoor use. COVID Management Plans are required by renters that state compliance of all current CDC guidelines. The MDKC is conducting indoor dog classes with proper distancing measures and has an active COVID Mgmt Plan. The MP Building will have a future equipment upgrade to provide better wifi service to the building. The upgrade was to take place, but Antietam Cable made a mistake with service and the upgrade did not happen. The POS project at the MP Kitchen is still underway. The air conditioning has been installed and remodeling will happen in the fall/winter time frame. The POS project at the track will take place soon with upgrades including fencing and moving of guardrails for safety improvements. Jersey walls have been removed and permanent fencing will be put in place. One track end foot traffic flow will also be created for spectators. Upcoming Events: September 26/27- Steam and Craft Show October 4- RHM Apple Fest October 9/10/11- Jack Russel Terrier National Convention TREASURERS REPORT Fulton Bank Account 7237- Checking- 8/31/20- Starting Balance- $5,235.04 - Ending Balance- $5,235.04 Account 7124- Money Market- 8/31/20- Starting Balance- $15,095.15 - Ending Balance- $15,093.79 Total Funds: $20,328.83 UNFINISHED BUSINESS The stormwater pond work is almost complete. Thank you to Darren Olden for his work on the job. Fundraising and Development- The shooting event for October was cancelled. The board consensus is to pursue the shooting event for 2021 to continue raising funds for facility upgrades. A fundraising idea was presented for Holsinger’s meat chances for a future idea. NEW BUSINESS Sue Harr resigned from the Ag Board due to moving out of State. Ag Board appointments terms are due for consideration. Motion to go into closed session at 4:21pm by Katie Carr, seconded by Darren Olden. Motion to come out of closed session at 4:38pm by Mike Starliper seconded by Dave Moore.
