HomeMy WebLinkAboutHeise_LetterofProtest_DickinsonDear Historic District Commission of Washington County, I have heard many times that my generation doesn’t care about our history but I assure you this couldn’t be farther from the truth. I am twenty two years old and I care deeply about the protection of this house and it’s property. As a little girl, when we rode past the gorgeous trees and stone house I always thought It looked like a princess cottage. I was so excited Hagerstown had its own princess and would imagine fairy tales about the house with its long storybook lane. I grew up immersed in Hagerstown’s history, as my mother dabbles greatly in genealogy and historical records. The loss of the Dickinson Farm is a senseless destruction of our history. Hagerstown has beautiful historic views but that is not what children are going to be saying 10 years from now when people like you keep selling us out to big businesses. Hagerstown should not be known as a once rural and beautiful landscape that was disfigured by warehouses. Our county has lost too many buildings that represent our history and historical architecture. Please choose to preserve the history of our land and allow little girls to enjoy the storybook-like house just like I was able to.
