HomeMy WebLinkAbout191008 - Minutes, Electrical Bd WASHINGTON COUNTY ELECTRICAL BOARD OF EXAMINERS & SUPERVISORS MEETING MINUTES October 8, 2019 A&B CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL Bob Kochera called the regular monthly meeting of the Washington County Electrical Board to order at 7:30 a.m. on October 9, 2019 in Conference Room “1A” of the Washington County Administrative Annex Building in Hagerstown, Maryland. Members present were Charlie Shindle, Daniel Sterling, Terry Molnar, and Steve Ryan. Becky Gander, Tasha Shifflett, and Katie Rathvon from the Division of Plan Review and Permitting. Also, in attendance were George Parish and Jim Spickler from the City of Hagerstown. MINUTES The minutes for the September 10, 2019 Electrical Board meeting were accepted as written. OPEN SESSION OLD BUSINESS 1. RESTRICTED HVAC ELECTRICAL LICENSE-WILLIAM NALLEY • George Parish from the City of Hagerstown explained that if you have a valid HVAC License, you can do incidental, replacement electrical work. If doing any new electrical work such as, new panel or wiring, an electrical permit is required by the City. George Parish and Jim Spickler advised that the electrical work done at the Washington County Fine Arts Museum was more than incidental, replacement work that required an electrical permit. • Daniel Sterling stated that if Mr. Nalley was doing the same work in the County, he would need a low voltage electrical permit. • Becky Gander agreed that a low voltage electrical permit would be required if work was being done in the County. • A response letter was drafted to Mr. Nalley and given to each Board member to review. The Board approved the letter as written and a copy of the letter was provided to George Parish. NEW BUSINESS 1. PERMITTING COMMENTS • Board members were provided an updated copy of the Title 8 Electrical Apparatus and Wiring. WASHINGTON COUNTY ELECTRICAL BOARD OF EXAMINERS & SUPERVISORS 2. TERM EXPIRATION • The board voted unanimously for Daniel Sterling to remain on the board and serve another 2-year term. Becky Gander advised this will need to go before the County Commissioners to request re-appointment. 3. APPLICANTS SEEKING TO TAKE DECEMBER 4, 2019 EXAM • Chad Eby was approved to take the Master Electrical Exam. • Joe Pennington was denied due to missing information on his application. 4.
