HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 06_18_25[1] Washington County Agricultural Education Center Board of Directors Meeting – Meeting Minutes Wednesday - June 18, 2025 ATTENDANCE Denny Reeder, Dave Moore, Ryan Shank, Brenda Nichols, Kevin Smoot, Jay Miller, Joe Layos Excused: Katie Carr, Darren Olden, Staff in attendance: Jaime Dick – Deputy Director Public Works Parks and Recreation, Tom Gozora- Facility Administrator Ag Ed Center, Pam Boyd – Parks Supervisor Parks and Facilities. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – from May 21, 2025 Minutes from the last meeting were approved with a motion – Dave Moore, 2nd Ryan Shank COMMISSIONERS COMMENTS The BOCC is ready to discuss bids for new Pole Barn at next meeting. Need to find two candidates to replace 2 of the longest tenure Board Members. Currently the 2 longest tenure board members may continue to serve until there is a replacement appointed. The current board needs to come up with 5 questions for the future applicants. Unfinished Business - High Tensile Fence – Profence to start in 1 or 2 weeks. - Future Pole Barn project – Purchasing to present bids to BOCC, and award low bidder. - Fans for MP Building – Installed, complete. New Business - Ag Expo Lease - 5 year lease is up, KW usage goes up but cost is not noticeable. Jaime, Tom & Pam to meet with Ag Expo. - Reichard House, Wash Co Historic Advisory Committee present to Ag Ed Center, date not confirmed. - MDKC submitted project request, Bathroom update, need to have Facilities final approval. - MDKC is requesting internet, the current plan is to tie the MDKC to the MP Building modem and router. - Ryan request asphalt be completed, garage doors and spouting be repaired. [3] Washington County Agricultural Education Center Board of Directors Meeting June 18, 2025 Facility Administrator’s Report Rental and Facility updates: Past Events - May 24 WashCo Tractor pullers - May 31 Monster Truck – two events, rain first event, down poor shortly after second. - June 07 Quad State Wine Fest, well attended over 2,000 people. - June 14 Pollinator Palooza – successful and could have been better if no rain. - June 14 New Market – Middletown Valley Hounds, not well attended too many other events. Upcoming Events - June 21 Quad State Brunch Fest - June 28 WashCo Tractor pullers - July 12-19 Ag Expo and Fair - July 26 Lead Don’t Follow Car Show - Aug 1st & 2nd Maryland Fur Trappers - Aug 09 Quad State Rock’n Flavor Fest - Aug 16 & 17 Augustoberfest Adjournment – Motion to adjourn Jay Miller, Second – Dave Moore
