HomeMy WebLinkAbout950720July 20, 1995 Hagerstown, Maryland A Special Meeting of the Board of County Commissioners of Washington County was called to order at 9:16 a.m. by the President, Gregory I. Snook, with the following members present: Vice President John S. Shank, and Commissioners Ronald L. Bowers, and James R. Wade. CONVENE IN CLOSED SESSION Motion made by Commissioner Wade, seconded by Bowers, to convene in Closed Session at 9:16 a.m. with regard to property matters and to consider businesses relocating in Washington County, in accordance with Section 10.508 of the State Government Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland. Unanimously approved. RECONVENE IN REGULAR SESSION Motion made by Commissioner Wade, seconded by Bowers, to reconvene in Regular Session at 11:05 a.m. Unanimously approved. JULY 20, 1995 MINUTES, CONT'D. In Closed Session, the Commissioners discussed six (6) property and economic Development matters. PRESS RELEASE - BEQUEST FROM MR. & MRS. JOHN HOWARD The Commissioners held a press conference at 11:15 a.m. in order to announce that Mr. and Mrs. John T. Howard, both of whom were recently deceased, have by means of a bequest in the will of Mr. Howard, granted over $550,000 to Washington County. Commissioner Downey then presented the check. Commissioner Snook stated that the will specifies that the money shall be used for the acquisition and/or construction of a golf course to be utilized by the public in Washington County, or for acquiring, developing, enlarging and/or providing capital improvements to existing or additional park and recreation facilities. The meeting was then opened for questions by the media. ADJOURNMENT Motion made by Commissioner Wade, seconded by Shank, to adjourn at 11:30 a.m. Unanimously approved.
