Minutes of the Washington County Commission for Women
By conference call
July 12, 2023, 6 p.m.
Present: Laurie Chrzanowski, Beth Harvey, Mary Hendrickson, Amber Mowery, Dawn
Nally, Nitzalis Rivera, Danielle Sweeney, Elise Weber, Cherie McCord.
Not Present: Melissa Peters, Commissioner Randall Wagner
President Beth Harvey opened the meeting, which was held by conference call.
A motion was made by Dani to approve the meeting of the June 14, 2023 meeting, which was
seconded by Elise Weber. The minutes were approved unanimously.
President Harvey apprised the attendees that Teresa Peek submitted her resignation effective
June 15, 2023. Skyla Heise was sworn in as commission member and may attend the August
meeting. She said that the August meeting will occur on August 9 at the Women’s Club at 31 S.
Prospect Street, Hagerstown.
Some commissioners requested that the group discuss the Financial Literacy Program at
Brooke’s House. The topic was not on the agenda for the July phone meeting. Discussion was
further requested because the program was scheduled to begin prior to the August meeting. Beth
requested that time sensitive comments be put into an email. She noted that the topic would be
added to the next meeting if further discussion is necessary.
Nitzalis asked that the minutes record that she opposed going forward with the Financial Literacy
program because, as a newer member, she had not received sufficient background information
about it.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:18 p.m.
Upcoming meetings reminder:
• Wed., August 9, 6 p.m.: Meet at the Women’s Club, 31 S. Prospect St. A meeting will
occur as well as a tour of the facilities.
• Tuesday, September 12, 6 p.m.: “Remembrance in the Park” memorial ceremony.
Washington County Emergency Services Tribute Gardens at Hagerstown City Park.
Members should attend to honor current and former military, law enforcement,
emergency services and citizen volunteers.
• Friday, October 13: TEDxHagerstownWomen in HCC Kepler Theater.
• Wednesday, November 8: Meet at HCC. State’s Attorney Gina Cirincion will speak.
Possible second speaker Shelita Jackson.
• December: No meeting.
