HomeMy WebLinkAbout210415 - Minutes, Community Health AdvWashington County Community Health Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes April 15, 2021 Opening This meeting of the Washington County Community Health Advisory Committee was called to order at 7:30am by Douglas Spotts, MD, Chair, via virtual meeting. Present Earl Stoner, Jennifer Foltz, Rich Eichelberger, Rob Ferree, Cyndi Powell, Douglas Spotts, MD, Commissioner Randall Wagner, Allen Twigg, Allison Tages, DDS, Mark Bradshaw, Peggy Pugh and David Chisholm. Special Guests: Steve Schuh, Executive Director of Opioid Operational Command Center (OOCC); Michael Coury, Program Director of OOCC and Vicki Sterling, Director of Behavioral Health Services. New Business Special Presentation by Director Schuh on the 2020 annual report for the Opioid Operational Command Center (OOCC) for the state of Maryland. The OOCC was formed in 2017 by Governor Hogan. They are tasked with interagency coordination among 20 agencies and 24 municipalities to address 3 main objectives related to the opioid crisis: Prevention & Education, Enforcement and Treatment & Recovery. After Director Schuh's presentation, Vicki Sterling with Washington County Behavioral Health Services shared information on local strategies and plans for addressing the Opioid crisis on a local level. She talked about the Washington Goes Purple and Washington County Recovers initiatives. She also shared information about the Opioid Intervention Team (OIT) and their collaboration with local law enforcement. Allen Twigg shared some information about 2 intervention strategies at Meritus including administration of saboxone in the E.R and peer support intervention upon discharge. Old Business • Approval of Meeting Minutes from March 18, 2021. Allen Twigg made the motion to approve as presented, Cyndi Powell seconded. All voting in favor, minutes approved. • COVID-19 Update provided by Earl Stoner: 0 7% positivity rate, 23.5% case rate. Metrix remain high but seem to be at a plateau. o Cases are shifting to younger population. o UK variant is most seen in our area. o Discussed mobile vaccine operations for equitable vaccine distribution. Outlook • Future potential topics: o Meritus Family Resident Group Activities and Objectives o Health Department perspective on water/sewer quality o Dental/oral health as it relates to systemic health.
