He thought it would be nice for us to poll the other commissioners on topics relevant to Washington County residents based on their knowledge and community contacts. Cyndi will coordinate with Krista Hart to get on the agenda. New Business • Future discussion topics. Cyndi Powell commented she felt like this group was most effective when we had high level, public health topics to discuss i.e. Maryland Diabetes Plan, Needle Exchange Program, Styrofoam Ban. She suggests we curate a list of relevant topics to review on a regular basis and coordinate presentations or designate a particular meeting to address these topics. Then we as a group will be educated on the topics, we can each contribute to the discussion from our respective backgrounds and are prepared to serve/advise the commissioners as the need arises. o In the past, we talked a lot about water connection issues related to City/County expansion plans and we discussed sewer/septic issues. These could each be a topic for a future meeting presentation. Mark with Division of the Environment could speak to the water quality and maybe invite Jill Baker to discuss City expansion plan. Earl can speak to or invite a guest to speak to the well and septic issues for our county. o We also hope to get topics from the County Commissioners that they would like for our group to discuss. • Go For Bold Campaign kicked off on October 6th by Meritus and partners. o Do, Eat, Believe. O 10 year plan to lose 1M pounds and keep it off. They will have year by year goals and actions to sustain the goals. Currently they have -28 partners who have collectively pledged -270K lbs.
