ELECTRICAL BOARD OF EXAMINERS & SUPERVISORS
MEETING MINUTES
June 11, 2019
A&B CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL
Bob Kochera called the regular monthly meeting of the Washington County Electrical Board to order at
7:30 a.m. on June 11, 2019 in Conference Room “1A” of the Washington County Administrative Annex
Building in Hagerstown, Maryland. Members present were Daniel Sterling, Terry Molnar, and Charlie
Shindle. Becky Gander, and Katie Rathvon from the Plan Review and Permitting Department were also
present.
MINUTES
The minutes for the May 14, 2019 Electrical Board meeting were accepted as written.
OPEN SESSION
OLD BUSINESS
1. LOCAL AMENDMENTS
• Becky Gander advised there does not appear to be any changes to the local amendments
for the 2017 National Electrical Code. A copy of the local amendments will be provided
to the Board for their review.
NEW BUSINESS
1. PERMITTING COMMENTS
• A list of licensed electricians in Washington County was provided to each board member.
• Becky Gander advised there are several vacant positions within the Division. The permit
technician position has been advertised and will be filled as quickly as possible. The
chief planner position will also be advertised and filled. Sandy Schulte is retiring at the
end of this month, but that position will not be filled at this time.
• Becky Gander advised the review for the IBC has been completed and the review of the
IECC has started. The adoption of the new codes is on schedule with a proposed adoption
date in January and effective in March 2020.

• Brian Thompson-Low Voltage-Pass-70%
