HomeMy WebLinkAbout890630June 30, 1989 Hagerstown, Maryland 21740 A Special Meeting of The Board of County Commissioners was called to order at 8:05 a.m. by President Ronald L. Bowers with the following members present, Vice President Linda C. Irvin, Commissioners Richard E. Roulette, R. Lee Downey and John S. Shank. CONVENE IN EXECUTIVE SESSION Motion made by Commissioner Roulette, seconded by Shank, to convene in Executive Session at 8:15 a.m. in regard to personnel, property and potential litigation in accordance with Section 10.508 of the State Government Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland. Unanimously Approved. RECONVENE IN REGULAR SESSION Motion made by Commissioner Downey,. seconded by Shank, to reconvene in Regular Session at 11:25 a.m. Unanimously Approved. ELECTION BOARD COMMITTEE Dorothy Waters, Walter Bell, Ralph McCauley and Oscar Spigler, members of the Election Board appeared before the Commissioners to request they be considered for additional space when the new County Administration Building is occupied. The Commissioners agreed to take their request under consideration, and suggested that the Election Board consider utilizing the space presently occupied by The Economic Development Office in the Court House Annex. RULES AND REGULATIONS/LANDFILL The Commissioners reviewed the proposed Rules and Regulations for the Washington County Landfill and agreed to schedule a public hearing at a date to be announced. FIRE AND RESCUE BOUNDARIES The Commissioners reviewed the proposed Fire and Rescue Boundaries procedure, and agreed to schedule a public hearing with the date to be announced. APPROVE MINUTES -June 12 & 13, 1989 Motion made by Commissioner Irvin, seconded by Roulette to approve the minutes of June 12th and 13th as corrected. Unanimously Approved. EMPLOY ROADS DEPARTMENT TECHNICIAN Motion made by Commissioner Irvin, seconded by Downey to transfer Mary Kline, Personnel Technician to the Roads Department as Insurance Technician to fill an existing vacancy. Unanimously approved. TOURISM GRANT Barry Teach, County Administrator, informed the Commissioners that on behalf of the Department of Economic Development, $19,500 was awarded to Washington County through the Maryland Tourism Matching Grants Program. A formal letter from Governor Schaefer will follow. MEETING ADJOURNED Motion made by Commissioner Shank, seconded by Irvin to adjourn the meeting at 12:15 p.m. Unanimously Approved.
