Glenn Dull, County Engineer, met with the Commissioners to review the bids received
at last week's meeting for construction of a building for Company 25 (Air Unit) and
an access road and parking lot for the new county golf course. Mr. Dull explained

be primarily because of site work and suggested going back to the architect to see
if this work could be modified. He also said that the golf course access road and
parking lots bids were in excess of funds budgeted and recommended that these
specifications also be reviewed for potential modification and the project rebid
early next winter. The Commissioners made no decisions at this time on the Air
Unit Bids.

GYPSY MOTH PROGRAM
Robert Tichener, official with the State Department of Agriculture, appeared before
the Commissioners to give a summary of the State's gypsy moth control activities
and tree defoliation and an overview of the current year's program in Washington
County. He said that, during the last five year period, only Frederick and Cecil
Counties ranked above Washington in total acres sprayed, and during this time
Washington County has experienced a gypsy moth population decline. He explained
that this was the reason for decreasing the acreage sprayed during the past two
years. He also pointed out that future programs will depend largely on the degree
of local financial participation since federal funds will be reduced next year by
400. At the request of the Commissioners, Mr. Tichener agreed to resurveying the
areas defoliated this year in Washington County and provide the Commissioners with
a report on his findings.
