The house is situated on an area of level ground and faces west. The structure is a two story, three bay dwelling sheathed with German siding and resting on brick foundations. The depth of the walls suggests that the building may be constructed of logs. Windows are large in relation to wall area and are surrounded by plain wooden trim, They appear to be placed symmetrically in the walls and have six over six pane double hung sashes. Prominent in the front elevation is a central second story window beside which are two over two pane vertically arranged side lights. Immediately beneath this window is a broad entrance consisting of double doors topped by an eight light transom and flanked by side lights. A one story hip roofed porch supported by square pillars extends along the entire front elevation. The house has a hipped roof sheathed with sheet metal. A brick chimney is located inside the south end wall. Behind the house is a frame out kitchen and a log smoke house with a hipped roof. To the southwest is a frame bank barn. Between the barn and house stands a metal windmill. The buildings appear to be in good condition and stand on a tract con- taining 170.50 acres. The construction material beneath the siding could not be determined, however, the thickness of the walls suggests the possibility of a sheathed log structure. The formal design of this house with its broad entrance way and centered second story window flanked with side lights is of a type associated with the mid 19th century and later in Washington County.
