PUBLIC HEARING - FOREST CONSERVATION ORDINANCE
A Public Hearing of the Board of County Commissioners of Washington County was
called to order by the President Richard E. Roulette at 7:00 p.m. in Court Room
No. 1 in order to hear testimony on the proposed Forest Conservation Ordinance.
Other Commissioners present at the hearing were: Linda C. Irvin-Craig, John S.
Shank, and Gregory I. Snook. Also present were Planning Commission members
Bertrand Iseminger, Chairman; Donald Zombro, Donald Spickler, and Carol Johnson.
Stephen Goodrich, Senior Planner, reviewed the proposed Ordinance and an
overview of amendments to the Zoning Ordinance which would be required.
Commissioner Roulette explained that the Maryland State Legislature passed a
mandate to adopt a Forest Conservation Ordinance and the County's only options
are to adopt an ordinance or to allow the State to be the administrative agent.
The meeting was opened for questions and also for public testimony. After
hearing all testimony, Commissioner Roulette announced that the record will
remain open for ten (10) days in order to receive any written testimony. The
hearing was closed at 9:10 p.m.
