Box 246 Hmoffshmm AM21741-0246 ►augans Maugansville Elementary School Sewer Flow Projections IDR&A Project No. 051017 As you are aware, the Board of Education is proposing to construct a new elementary school in Maugansville. The existing school is slated to be demolished. We have obtained water records for the existing school from the City of Hagerstown. These records range from May of 2002 through August of 2005. A copy of these records are attached. In an effort to determine a usage in terms of gallons per day per capita, we used only consumption data throughout the normal school near (i.e. November through May meter readings). The August meter readings were not used in our flow projections. The following is a summary of the meter read dates and useages during the measured periods. Meter Read Date Usea e Gallons 05/11/05 84,300 02/12/05 85,100 11/10/04 85,000 05/12/04 110,500 02/11/04 79,900 11/12/03 92,900 05/12/03 102,200 02/14/03 & 01/18/03 1 78,400 11/12102 90,900 05/09/02 114,100 Total Usea e 923,300 Average Quarterly Usea e 92,330 Assuming that school is in session, five (5) out of seven (7) days per week per quarter the average daily useage may be determined as follows: 92,330gallons / quarter _ 1,436gallons /day [90days l quarterx5 / 71 "since 19W (V D r -C 1 2 2005 FROM : DAV1S RENN PHONE NO. : 3015824336 Dec. 13 2005 03:11PM P2 The Washington County Board of Education website states the current student and staff population is 317 and 23 respectively. The average daily useage per person may be determined as follows: 1,436gallons / day _ 4.22gallons / person / day [317+23] The new Maugansville School has a student design population of 735 with an anticipated staff level of 50. The estimated flow projection at the new school based on the 4.22 gallon/person/day projection is as follows: [735 Students + 50 staff] x 4.22 Gallons/Person/Day - 3,313 gallons/day This value equates to 17 EDU's. We understand that the existing allocation may be transferred to the new school site. We also understand that the school currently has 7 allocations and; therefore, the new facility would require 10 more allocations In closing, please advise this office as to what steps must be taken to ensure additional allocations will be available for the new facility.
