HomeMy WebLinkAbout07.26.2011 Public Hearing Comprehensive UrbanBOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF WASHINGTON COUNTY Hagerstown, Maryland July 26, 2011 PUBLIC HEARING — COMPREHENSIVE REZONING OF THE URBAN GROWTH AREA: URBAN GROWTH AREA REZONING TEXT AND MAP AMENDMENTS AND URBAN GROWTH AREA BOUNDARY ADJUSTMENTS (FINAL RECOMMENDATIONS - AMENDED) A Public Hearing of the Board of County Commissioners of Washington County, Maryland was convened at 6:08 p.m. at the Hager Hall Conference and Event Center, 901 Dual Highway, Hagerstown, to hear testimony regarding the proposed Final Recommendations (Amended) for the Comprehensive Rezoning of the Urban Growth Area (UGA) including the Urban Growth Area Rezoning Text and Map Amendments and Urban Growth Area Boundary Adjustments. Present were County Commissioners President Terry L. Baker, Vice President John F. Barr, and Commissioners Ruth Anne Callaham, Jeffrey A. Cline, and William B. McKinley. County Staff present were Steve Goodrich, Chief Planner -Planning and Zoning Department; Kirk C. Downey, Assistant County Attorney; Greg Murray, County Administrator; and Vicki Lumm, County Clerk. Mr. Downey reviewed the procedures for the Public Hearing and advised that written and email comments would be received by the Washington County Planning Department through the close of business on August 5, 2010. County Clerk Vicki Lumm administered the oath to those who planned to give testimony. On behalf of the Washington County Planning and Zoning Department, Steve Goodrich presented an overview of the Final Recommendations (Amended) for the Urban Growth Area Rezoning Map Amendments and Urban Growth Area Boundary Adjustments. The presentation included updates made since the Joint Public Hearings held with the Washington County Planning Commission on October 12 and 14, 2010. Thereafter, testimony was given by twenty-nine individuals concerning proposed text changes and property classifications (a list of names is on file in the Washington County Planning Department.)
