HomeMy WebLinkAbout940418 April 18, 1994 PUBLIC HEARING - INTENT TO CLOSE A PORTION OF PLEASANTVILLE ROAD A Public Hearing was convened at 7:00 p.m. at the Antietam National Battlefield Visitors Center, as advertised, with the following Commissioners present: President, Richard E. Roulette; Vice President, Ronald L. Bowers; and Commissioners Linda C. Irvin-Craig, John S. Shank, and Gregory I. Snook. Commissioner Roulette stated that the hearing is to hear public testimony regarding the intent to close the unimproved portion of Pleasantville Road which runs through the C & O Canal National Historic Park property. William Orlando, Ranger for the Monocacy Subdistrict of the C & O Canal, stated that the Park Service made the request to limit access by vehicles to this area because of the vandalism, poaching, and dumping of trash which was occurring on park property. He stated that the road is a dead end and there are no private residences located along this portion of the roadway. The Commissioners then opened the meeting for public testimony. There was no one present to speak in favor of the request. There were six citizens who spoke in opposition to closing this portion of the road. Commissioner Roulette stated that the record will remain open for ten (10) days in order to receive any written testimony. The hearing was closed at 8:05 p.m. County Attorney , Clerk
