ADVISORY COMMITTEE
MINUTES

CALL TO ORDER:
Lisa Reigh opened the meeting at 1709 hours.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA:
Brock made a motion to approve the agenda. Merle seconded the motion.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Merle made a motion to approve the minutes. Dennis seconded the motion.
CHAIR REPORT:
Announcement in reference to Citizen Participation – note the agenda item and all visitors please
hold comments for Citizen Participation. Welcome Commissioner Keefer, new ex-officio
member.
NEW BUSINESS:
a. Term Limits – Dennis would like to serve another term. Have to find out if Rebecca
would like to serve another term. Consensus from Committee to renew terms.
OLD BUSINESS:
a. Landfill Alternatives: ReGreen was back – PowerPoint Presentation will be posted
on the google drive. The Eastern Shore location will be opening up in September-
October time frame.
b. Bylaw Amendment Update – Awaiting review by County Attorney then will go for
Commissioner Approval. An email from the Chair advising “Bylaws were approved
unanimously by the Committee” to Krista Hart, County Clerk, is necessary.
c. Update on Septic Rebate Program – The new plan is to do an educational program
for the first year. Perhaps a Social Media Campaign - $2,000/month to get it up and
running. Public Service Announcements and that sort of thing – Valicor MAY
participate in getting year #1 up and running. Dan will get and keep Committee
involved/updated. Brock requested plac ing the Septic Rebate Program on the
upcoming agendas for updates by Dan DiVito.
COMMITTEE COMMENTS/SUGGESTIONS:
Still trying to coordinate an upcoming meeting for the Committee to present to the
Commissioners. Also, Dan invited the Committee to both the DWQ Employee Appreciation
Luncheon on September 25, 2019, as well as the Solid Waste Employee Appreciation Luncheon
on September 26, 2019.
ADJOURN:
Brock moved to adjourn the meeting, Dennis seconded the motion. Meeting adjourned at 1946
hours.
The next meeting will be held October 23, 2019 at 5:00 pm. The location of this meeting will
be at Washington County Division of Environmental Management (DEM), Public Meeting
